September 10, 2025 – I’m thrilled to be stepping back into the pilgrim’s rhythm and will leave for Spain on Septmber 13 to begin the trail in the town of Oviedo. Earlier this year and last, I spent time working at albergues—welcoming pilgrims, swapping stories, and soaking up the unique magic that comes with life on the Camino. But now it’s my turn again: to shoulder my pack, follow the yellow arrows, and walk into the unknown.
Here’s how this journey fits into my Camino story so far: my first pilgrimage was on the Camino Francés, the most iconic route; the second was on the Camino Portugués, full of coastal charm. Now, the Primitivo calls—the oldest, toughest, and perhaps most rewarding of them all. I will start the trail on September 17, after taking a few days to acclimate back into the 9-hour time difference.
To give you some perspective on the most popular Camino trails, this map will give you an idea of where I’m walking this time. My first Camino was the Frances; the second was the Portuguese.
